This current vacancy is a full-time, overtime- and benefit-eligible position expected to begin as soon as possible. Work hours for this position must be very flexible. The list established by this recruitment will be used to fill this position only and remain on file for three months. STARTING SALARY: Range: $2789 per month with periodic increments up to $3631 per month, as currently legislated. POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision and delegated authority, supervise staff and ensure reliable operation of interactive television (ITV) activities; work with information technology and distance learning staff to integrate new technologies; develop capacity to record and distribute ITV events digitally; and integrate ITV activities with the college's other distance learning tools. Interactive television courses are critical to the college's distance learning efforts. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Coordinate ITV operations by hiring, training and scheduling ITV operators; maintains system scheduling data. • Maintain ITV system and recommend repair, replacement and upgrade by testing equipment, respond to failure notices; identify obsolete equipment and request support from WVC information technology staff and support vendors. • Train and support faculty and students in effective use of ITV system through system demonstrations, creation of system manuals, and through joint delivery of workshops and other activities coordinated with teaching and learning center staff. • Provide technical and operational backup for ITV events and activities either through direct presence at the event or through electronic information systems, e.g., cell phone, email, etc.; provide support primarily during the day, but also during evenings and weekends as determined with supervisor. • Recommend and implement both technical and operational methods of integrating ITV activities with other WVC distance learning activities and resources. • Establishes schedules for cleaning and maintaining ITV classroom equipment in coordination with information technology staff; performs maintenance tests, replace microphones, switches and other interconnecting or auxiliary equipment as needed. • Maintain stock and computerized and/or manual inventory records on materials, equipment and parts; order supplies incidental to materials production and/or equipment support and installation. • Comply with copyright law and practice and direct faculty and staff to resources regarding copyright law and practice as it applies to the duplication and presentation of media materials. • May assist with monitoring and developing media center budgets and accounts. • Perform related duties as required. MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES: • Supervisory experience. • Ability to work a flexible schedule. • Excellent communication and strong organization skills; ability to set priorities on own initiative; ability to prepare and organize media materials. • Excellent coordination skills, interpersonal communication and problems solving, combined with a collaborative work style. • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, or equivalent software. DESIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES: • Bachelor’s degree. • Experience as a media technician. • Experience with interactive television. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office environment, and in ITV classrooms and conference rooms located in various buildings on campus. Work is performed primarily during the day, though a flexible schedule may be determined with direct supervisor in order to provide direct technical and operational backup for evening and weekend classes; some backup may be provided by cell phone, email, etc. Occasional travel to WVC's Omak campus may be required.
