RESEARCH REGULATION ORDINANCE PROCESS

 

Any individual, cooperation, agency or institution, whether public or private wishing to undertake a study, survey or research project. for any purpose on the Colville Indian reservation, not specifically requested or contracted for/by the Colvill confederated Tribes must first obtain a permit approved by the Business Council, or its designated authorizing the conduct of such study, survey or research project on the Colville Indian Reservation pursuant to provisions of the research Regulation Ordinance.

 

TO OBTAIN A WRITTEN PERMIT

 

1. Applicant must complete the forms at least 30 days prior to proposed study, survey or research project start date.
2. Applicant must identify Tribal Department representative to serve as contact for application prior to submitting to Colville Business Council for permit.
3. Applicant must read and obtain a working understanding of the Research Regulation Ordinance and its contents.
4. If required, applicant must prepare multiple copies of a brief and concise written prospectus of project, for a verbal presentation to the appropriate Tribal Council Committee.
5. No authorization will be verbal,only written permit applications will be offical, and must include and authorizing signature and tribal resolution number.
6. Colville Business Council approval/disapproval will be final.

 

Any person attempting to conduct research not specifically requested or contracted for by the Colville Confederated Tribes or permitted pursuant to provisions of the ordinance shall be subject to any and all civil or criminal remedies available pursuant to the Law and Order Code of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Indian reservation and the laws of the State of Washington, including but not limited to exclusion from tribal property, criminal trespass, and civil remedies provided for in Title 6 and Title 8 of the Law and Order Code of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Indian Reservation.
