The Colville Indian Reservation offers a vast variety of natural and recreational tourism activities for any age to truly experience and enjoy. The Colville Indian Reservation spans 1.4 million acres of North Central Washington primarily in Okanogan and Ferry counties. It is bordered to the East by the Okanogan River and to the West and South by Lake Roosevelt and the Columbia River.

Among its attractions include the Grand Coulee Dam which displays an awe-striking laser light show during the summer months where the enormous man-made structure illustrates its sheer capacity by spilling water down its face while a complex series of lasers tell the story of Lake Roosevelt, the Columbia river, the Grand Coulee Dam and the settlers around it.

Activities are also abundant within the boundaries and surrounding the Colville Indian Reservation. Most notably,
the Omak Stampede and the world famous Suicide Race takes place in early August. The race features a 225 feet downhill sprint before crossing the Okanogan River and dashing 500 yards to the finish line in the Stampede
Arena. This race was added to the Omak Stampede
schedule of events in 1935 after initial being raced in both Inchelium and Keller, WA.

The 4th of July Pow Wow is the Colville Tribe’s largest cultural event and attracts the best singers and dancers throughout Indian Country. This cultural gathering has gotten bigger and more visitor-friendly throughout the years with great seating and plenty of local and regional entrepreneurs in attendance to offer visitors a variety of gifts and keepsakes. In addition, during this festival, stick games and a parade accompany the celebration. The Pow Wow starts the weekend before the 4th of July and extends to the following weekend.

Lake Roosevelt also attracts its fair share of annual visitors. This 130 mile long lake has been known for its rich history. For more than 9000 years, people have gathered along the banks of the river to fish and trade with each other. Today, the lake offers recreational activities including opportunities for boating, fishing, swimming, camping, and canoeing. The Colville Tribal Enterprise Corporation offers a nice choice of houseboats to truly experience the beauty the lake has to offer.

In addition to these attractions, the Colville Indian reservation offers a multitude of lakes, streams and parks that can be utilized to experience the great outdoors in a natural setting with little or no development or westernization.
