The Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation is currently under a 638 contract with the U.S. Department of Interior/Bureau of Indian Affairs.  The Colville Tribal Realty Department functions under this contract.  Recently, new personnel were hired to execute the mission of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.  The mission of the Bureau of Indian Affairs is to fulfill its trust responsibilities and promote self-determination on behalf of Tribal Governments, American Indians, and Alaskan Natives.  The core values of the department include communication, teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, integrity, and competent action.

The mission of the Colville Tribal Realty Department is to lead in the successful management and administration of programs in the areas of trust and public domain lands as follows:

  1. Tenure & Management (Leasing, Rights-of-Way, Compliance, etc.)
  2. Land Acquisitions & Disposal (Land Sales, Gifts, Exchanges, etc.)
  3. Other land related issues involving trust and/or public domain lands.


The vision of the Colville Tribal Realty Department is to support tribal self-determination and tribal sovereignty by honoring the trust responsibility and fiduciary duty between the Colville Confederated Tribes and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Acquisition & Disposal

Bureau of Indian Affairs Realty employees are the key staff involved in the management of the Acquisition and Disposal function which involves sales, purchases, exchanges, partitionment and consolidation of tribal and individual land interests. 

Applications & Forms

  • If you wish to SELL all or part of your interest in trust property, please use the Sale Application. This form can also be used if you wish to purchase other co-owners shares.
    • PLEASE NOTE: If you are applying to sell your property and it contains a home/dwelling/structure, please also print and hand in the Supplemental Information Form.
  • If you wish to GIFT CONVEY all or part of your interest in trust property, please use the GIFT Application.
  • If you wish to EXCHANGE all or part of your interest in trust property for a different piece of trust land, you will need to call and schedule an appointment due to the lengthy application process.

To Sell, Exchange or Gift Convey your Indian Trust property, your first stop should always be the BIA Realty office to make application. The paperwork follows a process that can take more than 30 days to complete.

Please note that a real estate agent is not needed at any time for transactions involving Indian Trust lands.

Tribal Homes for Sale January 2016
The homes on this list were acquired by the Tribe through different means including purchase, transfer from Tribal Credit, and land transfers.  A renovation program was developed to repair these houses, which could then be sold to the Tribal membership.  While the renovation program has completed 4 houses since its creation in the spring of 2015, we’ve received an additional 8 properties from Tribal Credit in that same time frame.  Because of the growing inventory, and Tribal member interest in buying these properties as is, the Council has decided to make these homes available.  There were attempts to value these properties for competitive bid.  To do this appraisals would be needed for each house to establish minimum bid values.  This would have delayed the availability of these homes by up to a year.

Only the houses recently received from Tribal Credit have appraisals.  The buyer will be required to have an appraisal as part of the purchase price negotiation.  If we have interest from multiple potential buyers, the determination will be made through competitive bid process.   For homes that were purchased as part of larger parcels, a portion of land surrounding the home will be legally surveyed out up to a maximum of 5.00 acres, more or less; the remaining acreage will be maintained as tribal trust land.
